Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said that US threats have no effect on Iran, a move that comes after the US and Iran failed to reach an agreement in Pakistan.

The Iranian parliament speaker also said that the only way for the US to find a way out of the current situation is to make decisions and gain the trust of the Iranian nation.

He made the remarks in a speech to reporters on his way back to Iran from his visit to Pakistan, where he and his entourage participated in peace talks with the US delegation.

US President Donald Trump has announced that the US Navy will begin closing the Strait of Hormuz to ships attempting to enter or leave it after peace talks with Iran failed to reach a deal.

“From now on, the United States Navy, the finest navy in the world, will begin the process of closing all ships attempting to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump said in a message on Truth Social.

“I have also instructed our Navy to search for and block all ships in international waters that have made payments to Iran,” he said, adding that “nobody who makes illegal payments will have safe passage at sea.”

“We will also begin destroying mines “That Iran has also put in the Strait.”

On the peace talks, Trump said the meeting “went very smoothly” with most of the points agreed upon, but the only point that really mattered was the nuclear weapons issue, which was the main point.”
