UN chief calls on US, Iran to resume talks after Pakistan failure

UN: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for continued talks between the United States and Iran after the two countries failed to reach an agreement in Pakistan last week.

While no agreement was reached in the Pakistan-hosted talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, the discussions highlighted the seriousness of their engagement and constituted a positive and meaningful step towards resuming dialogue.

“Given the deep differences, an agreement cannot be reached overnight, and the Secretary-General calls for continued constructive negotiations to achieve an agreement,” he added.
