Iran announces full reopening of Strait of Hormuz to all cargo ships

Foreign Affairs: According to RT, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi announced on Friday that passage for all cargo and commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is now fully open. He added that the waterway would remain open for the remainder of the ceasefire while the ceasefire in Lebanon is being implemented.

Araghchi’s announcement came shortly after a 10-day ceasefire came into effect between the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon, a major obstacle to a peace deal between Iran and the United States.

Writing on social media, the Iranian minister said that in line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the route for all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz has been declared completely open for the remainder of the ceasefire.

However, he noted that the vessels would be allowed to move through the coordinated route, as already announced by the port and the Maritime Organization of the Islamic Representatives of Iran, saying that the strait will remain under Tehran’s control.

US President Donald Trump responded to Araghchi’s announcement on his Truth Social account, appearing to thank Tehran for the full reopening of the vital Iranian strait.
