Phnom Penh: In a campaign to tighten the implementation of the contents of Sub-Decree No. 3 on the management of security and safety in crowded living areas, authorities have taken measures to impose strict fines on the owners of the areas and some lawbreakers, collecting a total of 1,744,000,000 riels. This was reported by Touch Sokha, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Interior.

According to the report, the fines are divided into two major parts, including the first is the fine for illegal residence (4 million riel per foreigner). In this case, the authorities fined 1,720 million riel, of which 956 million riel was imposed in Phnom Penh, 668 million riel in Sihanoukville, 60 million riel in Kandal, 20 million riel in Mondulkiri, and 16 million riel in Siem Reap. The second part is the fine for the management of the security system, which received a fine of 24 million riels, including 400,000 riels for Mondulkiri province and 23,600,000 riels for Kandal province.
In particular, in April, from 3 to 20, local authorities launched a campaign to continue to actively inspect the administration in the capitals and provinces, a total of 2,696 locations, involving 21,259 people, including 1,045 locations in Phnom Penh, 1,108 locations in Takeo, 345 locations in Kratie, 83 locations in Sihanoukville, 56 locations in Banteay Meanchey, 37 locations in Kampong Cham, 12 locations in Mondulkiri, 5 locations in Oddar Meanchey, 3 locations in Kandal, 1 location in Ratanakiri, and 1 location in Siem Reap.
