Phnom Penh: To promote the abundant job opportunities in the province and prevent illegal migration, officials from the Battambang Provincial Labor Department of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training have been distributing information on job opportunities and the safety of migration to people along the border.

Mr. Meas Dara, Director of the Battambang Provincial Labor Department, stated on April 23, 2026 that every week, officials of the Battambang Provincial Labor Department go out to disseminate information on job opportunities, distribute brochures, and provide contact numbers to citizens and former workers who have returned from Thailand, and provide legal immigration advice to those who wish to work in many border districts such as Kamrieng, Sampov Loun, and Phnom Proek, as well as the Kamrieng Worker Reception Center.

He claimed: “The Battambang Provincial Department of Labor has prepared a weekly advertising plan to promote job opportunities and the safety of legal migration to Cambodians living along the border such as Kamrieng District, Sampov Lun District, Phnom Proek District and the Kamrieng Worker Reception Center. We have also provided the department’s contact number and 1297 to provide additional convenience for them in finding work.”

At the same time, Mr. Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, said that the continuous outreach by the provincial labor departments along the border shows the high attention of the Ministry of Labor, which is the government’s top official, to ensuring employment for Cambodian citizens and preventing illegal migration.

The spokesperson emphasized: “The promotion of the provincial labor department is a light rain strategy put forward by His Excellency the Minister as the Chief of Staff to the Royal Government to ensure that all Cambodians get jobs.”

In addition, Mr. Sun Mesa calls on Cambodians living along the border to study and understand migration carefully before believing in the lure of others, avoid illegal migration, and seek work in the country where it is more abundant, beneficial, and safer.
