Phnom Penh: The Global Fund has reaffirmed its position to continue supporting the health sector in eliminating infectious diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and AIDS in Cambodia.

During a meeting with Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, on April 22 2026, Ms. Sylwia Murray, Head of Mission and Global Fund Country Team, congratulated the Ministry of Health for achieving many important achievements in line with the plans and goals set for each project. She said that the Global Fund has continued its good and close cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Cambodia to eliminate malaria, tuberculosis and AIDS since 2002, especially in the fight against COVID-19 in the past.

The President affirmed her position to continue cooperation and strengthen partnerships to achieve the goals as defined by the Health Strategic Plan 2025-2034 (HSP4) and further collaborate through continued support for the organization of country-level dialogues for the preparation of proposals for the 8th Global Fund grant round 2027-2029.

The Minister thanked the Global Fund for always providing grant funding through the Ministry of Economy and finance to support the Ministry of Health’s policies for AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria programs, improve a resilient and strong health care system, and contribute to improving the well-being of the Cambodian people. Through this funding, the three national centers (AIDS, TB, and Malaria) have been implementing activities to achieve a national strategic plan supported by the Head of Government, moving towards the elimination of the three diseases, which are the target of public health threats in Cambodia.

Professor Minister confirms the Ministry of Health’s position In continuing to redouble efforts with limited domestic resources, while external assistance is being reduced, every effort must be made to ensure the sustainability of the three national programs, achieve universal health coverage, and ensure that no citizen is left behind.
At the same time, the Minister highlighted one of the most important strategic plans that has been implemented since the beginning of the 7th term of the Royal Government, namely strengthening primary health care.

The Minister requested the Global Fund to continue to collaborate with the Global Fund project management team of the Ministry of Health to explore new methods and new technical skills to promote project effectiveness, ensure program sustainability, and achieve planned results and goals.
