Observer: Opposition groups and illegal media abroad are spreading false information about former workers

Phnom Penh: Political observers and geopolitics experts have said that opposition groups and some illegal Khmer-language media outlets abroad are spreading false information about former workers returning from Thailand to blame and discredit the royal government.

Sam Soeun, a social and political observer, said that in recent days, he has observed opposition groups and some illegal Khmer-language media outlets abroad often spreading false information about unemployed citizens and illegal border crossings to Thailand. Who intends to blame the royal government.

He stated: “According to the Ministry of Labor, more than 670,000 former Cambodian workers from Thailand have jobs in the country, which is an effort by the royal government, but the opposition groups and illegal media are not willing to help spread the news widely. They are trying to pick out the smallest negative points to spread in order to poison society, distort information, and incite. “If we look at the ratio between the 670,000 employed and the 16 unemployed, there is a huge gap. We cannot take the 16 figures and put the entire burden on the government.” However, Mr. Sam Soeun called on former Cambodian workers who have not yet found work to contact the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training at 1297 to receive advice on finding a job, vocational training, and other social security benefits.  

For Mr. Thong Meng David, a geopolitics and security expert, said that opposition groups abroad should use this time to help disseminate information that is in the interest of the people, the state, and the nation. To jointly build the nation and avoid exploiting the nation’s difficulties for political gain.

He said: “I have also seen the mechanisms of the government and the Ministry of Labor regarding the intervention of migrant workers from Thailand, and the number of people who have received jobs is also overwhelmingly large. As Cambodians, we should help each other to spread the word about the benefits of the nation and the people, especially regarding helping former workers from Thailand find jobs. »

Ms. Ou Sreylon, former worker from Siem Reap And working at a factory in Kampong Speu province, she said that during her stay in Thailand, she and her husband worked as window cleaners in commercial buildings, condominiums, and villas in Bangkok without any sewing skills.

She continued: “When I came back to Cambodia, I was treated very well, and they let me learn sewing without spending any money, and I made even more money. Now I have sewing skills, a salary, and a job in our country. “So I don’t worry much anymore. My husband and I are trying to save money for our family’s livelihood.”

The former worker appealed to those looking for work or to learn sewing skills to contact the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training because local jobs are There is also no need to migrate to the West.

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has continued to appeal to Khmer workers returning from Thailand and citizens who do not yet have a job to contact 1297 to receive job opportunities in companies, factories, small and medium enterprises, crafts, farms, restaurants, and at construction sites, etc.
