Cambodia in the Techo-Thip era adopted a mature diplomatic policy

Phnom Penh: Mr. Pen Bona, spokesman for the Royal Government of Cambodia, stated that Cambodia in the Techo-Thip era adheres to a mature and pacifist diplomatic policy based on international law and respects the principles of multilateralism.

In a statement on the Cambodia-Thailand border situation on April 23, 2026, Mr. Pen Bona stated that the first meeting of the 2+2 strategic dialogue mechanism between the Cambodian and Chinese foreign ministers and defense ministers was held on April 22, 2026. The dialogue confirmed the joint determination of the two sides to strengthen political trust, military cooperation, deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership, and promote the building of a Cambodia-China community of shared future in all seasons in the new era.

He said that before the meeting, the two senior Chinese dignitaries paid a courtesy call and discussed work with Prime Minister Hun Sen. The King highlighted the recent developments in the Cambodian-Thailand border situation, reaffirming the position to resolve the border issue peacefully, based on international law and in accordance with existing bilateral conventions, treaties and agreements between Cambodia and Thailand.

The spokesperson emphasized that Cambodia, during the Techo-Thip era, has adopted a mature and peace-loving diplomatic policy based on international law and respects the principles of multilateralism.

He emphasized that “this appropriate and consistent diplomatic policy is a catalyst to encourage Cambodia to take strong steps forward in the direction of strengthening old friendships and expanding new friendships, which will make Cambodia have good relations with all countries in the world.”

At the same time, the Royal Government Spokesperson reiterated to the nation that The Royal Government’s position is to absolutely protect the international border between Cambodia and Thailand and absolutely reject any change in the border line resulting from the use of force.
