Phnom Penh: Often, a small group of opposition groups abroad always pose as patriots, thinking primarily about the interests of the people, but in reality, even when they help promote job opportunities for former Cambodian workers who returned from Thailand, they never help promote them. This has led leaders of major unions in Cambodia to ask, “Why have a small group of opposition groups abroad never helped promote job opportunities for former Cambodian workers?”
According to the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training More than 970,000 Cambodians who returned from Thailand, including more than 670,000 former Cambodian workers, have received job opportunities at local companies, factories, and enterprises to earn their income again, which requires participation in promoting job opportunities from all political trends.
Mr. Kim Chansamnang, President of the National Alliance of Trade Unions of Cambodia (NACC), said that a small group of opposition activists abroad always pose as patriots and consider the interests of the people first, but in fact, on their social media, they never click Like, Comment, or Share information about job opportunities to expand the promotion to former Cambodian workers.
He said that on social media, they pose as patriots and thinkers of the interests of the people, but instead create content criticizing the government’s actions in helping to intervene with Khmer workers and former soldiers who returned from Thailand, with the government doing this wrong and doing that wrong.
According to Mr. Chan Samnang, “The small opposition group abroad is a patriot and a person who thinks about the interests of the citizens, and a patriot who is only acting to exploit the benefits for the benefit of his own cronies’ deceitful political activities. They never really think about the national interest.”
For Mr. Hang Ravy, President of the Cambodian Workers’ Union (CWPUC), said that if the small group of opposition groups abroad are truly patriotic and consider the interests of the people, they should join in sharing and disseminating information on job opportunities, vocational education and training, social security benefits, and achievements that will help former Cambodian workers who returned from Thailand.
He said that the intervention mechanism to help former Cambodian workers, which was put in place by the Royal Government and the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, has been widely publicized and implemented, but a small group of opposition groups are waiting to criticize and defame the Royal Government, even though they are patriotic only on social media.
The union leader stated: “Participating in helping the country and helping the citizens is the duty of politicians of all stripes. I would like to give you an example: the Ministry of Labor has collected job opportunities to provide to our former workers, and those who call themselves patriots should help Like, Comment or Share information about job opportunities to further promote and help match jobs for former workers. This is what we call truly thinking about national interests.”
According to the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, it has continued to advertise and call on Cambodian workers returning from Thailand and citizens who do not yet have a job to contact 1297 to receive job opportunities in companies, factories, small and medium enterprises, handicrafts, farms, restaurants and construction sites, etc.
