Phnom Penh: The General Department of Prisons has collaborated with the National Police General Office, with the participation of relevant local authorities, to prepare for the transfer of 300 detainees from Kandal Provincial Prison to the 4th Correctional Center in Phet Rong Commune, Talo Sen Chey District, Pursat Province.
The transfer of prisoners is aimed at reducing overcrowding and improving the living conditions of inmates. They will also receive opportunities for education, rehabilitation, and vocational and job training to prepare them to become good citizens when they return to the community after serving their sentences.
This operation was carried out under the direct command of Senior Warden 1st Class Mean Thavarin, Director of the Prison Security Department, and Senior Warden 1st Class Chhim Sophanarat, Director of the Executive Department, as well as relevant experts, with high security on April 24, 2026.
