Phnom Penh: On April 24, 2026, at the headquarters of the Cambodia Mine Action Authority, Dr. Ly Thuj, Senior Minister and First Deputy Chairman of the Cambodia Mine Action Authority, met with Mr. Derek Yip, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, and colleagues to discuss the implementation of the Cambodia-Australia Development Partnership Plan and continued cooperation to support the mine action sector in Cambodia.

During the meeting, Mr. Derek Yip, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, expressed his congratulations to the Royal Government of Cambodia for approving the “National Mine Action Policy 2026-2035” at the plenary meeting of the Council of Ministers on April 23, 2026. At the same time, the Ambassador also confirmed the Australian Government’s support for mine clearance and consideration for victim assistance and rehabilitation in Cambodia.
Furthermore, Derek Yip confirmed the provision of AUD 1.5 million in assistance to support unexploded ordnance clearance and the improvement of communities along the border affected by the Cambodian-Thai war in the past.
Senior Minister Lee Thuc expressed his deep gratitude to the Australian Government and people for their support for the development process in Cambodia, in which Australia is an important, long-standing and strong partner among other partners in the mine action sector, which has contributed to Cambodia for over 30 years, especially through the Mine Action for Results project.

The Minister also thanked Australia for its support in preparing the National Mine Action Policy 2026-2035, including recently supporting the clearance of unexploded ordnance left behind by the Cambodian-Thai war in the past, as well as supporting the affected communities along the border.
On that occasion The Minister requested that Australia continue to support mine action in Cambodia, particularly through the Mine Action for Results project, so that Cambodia is free from the impact of explosive ordnance and no landmine victims are left behind.
