Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen said that for 2026, Cambodia’s economic growth is forecast to “maintain a high growth rate,” which clearly reflects the resilience of the national economy.
In a message on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of International Workers’ Day on May 1, 2026, under the theme “Together to Build Resilience for Decent Work,” Prime Minister Hun Sen affirmed that the complete peace and security that has been jointly maintained through the win-win policy of Prime Minister Hun Sen is a strong foundation for socio-economic development.
In addition, the right policies and strategies of the Royal Government can manage and resolve all situations, even when faced with uncertainty. Despite the global challenges and violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Cambodian economy has recovered rapidly and is on a strong growth path of approximately 5.2% in 2025.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen emphasized that “for 2026, Cambodia’s economic growth is also projected to maintain a high growth rate, which clearly reflects the resilience of the national economy in the context of complex economic and political developments both regionally and globally.”
In addition, the Royal Government has made determined efforts to improve the business and investment climate, encouraging the flow of foreign direct investment to continue to grow strongly and proudly. In fact, in the first two months of 2026, the Council for the Development of Cambodia registered a total of 105 foreign direct investment projects with a total investment capital of approximately US$966 million, which will create more job opportunities for citizens.
In addition, as of the first quarter of 2026, the number of enterprises, companies, and factories has increased to 47,029 enterprises with a total number of workers and employees of approximately 2.3 million.
