Foreign Affairs: Xinhua News Agency reported today that US Vice President JD Vance said on Tuesday that the deployment of more than 4,000 US-based troops to Poland, which was scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed rather than canceled.
Vance said at a press conference at the White House that the Trump administration has not yet reached a final decision on where the troops will ultimately be sent.
He said: It is a delay in the rotation of troops. The troops could go elsewhere in Europe.
Vance also added: We have not really made a final commitment on where the troops will ultimately go, as the Trump administration is discussing some resource shifts in a way that enhances US security.
He reiterated that US allies in Europe need to shoulder more of their own defense responsibilities. Vance added: “We need to have more sovereignty and Europe needs to stand on its own two feet. Then we can continue our policy in Europe as usual.”
