Phnom Penh: Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, said that the General Department of Taxation has been playing an important role in collecting taxes to the state as well as contributing to development in all sectors.
At the official inauguration ceremony of the new headquarters building of the General Department of Taxation on May 21, 2026, Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth said that the important contribution of the General Department of Taxation in collecting taxes in all sectors has supported the private sector, which is an essential engine of economic growth and a strong backbone of national social development.
The Minister said, “The contribution of the General Department of Taxation is through continuing efforts to strengthen the revenue collection for the state to be more effective, efficient, transparent, accountable, equitable, and fair.”
He added that the contribution of the tax It also reduces tax evasion, aims to promote tax compliance and ensure a level playing field, which is an important factor in ensuring the vitality of national economic activity.
The Minister of Economy claimed that at the same time, the General Department of Taxation has also increased the confidence of the private sector in the state’s revenue collection mechanism by strengthening the quality, capacity and professional ethics of tax officials in fulfilling their roles and duties.
