President: The General Department of Taxation has undergone many reforms

Phnom Penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that Cambodia’s General Directorate of Taxation has been implementing reforms for many months and many terms to contribute to strengthening the national economy.

At the official inauguration ceremony The new headquarters building of the General Department of Taxation on May 21, 2026, the King praised the General Department of Taxation for its efforts in implementing reforms over the past several terms.

The King said, “Under the leadership of His Excellency Kong Vibol, reforms have also been implemented. Sometimes he would come in for an hour to explain to me how to do the reform, what the obstacles were. If you don’t dare to do it, just to improve efficiency but don’t dare to do it, you’re afraid that this person will get angry, that person will get angry, you’re afraid that if you do it, you’ll lose this person, that person will lose that person, there will be problems.”
The Prime Minister added that the reform has provided a habit for everyone, an understanding of justice and equality that enterprises and companies can accept.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this has created a partnership between the state and the private sector to strengthen the national economy and enhance Cambodia’s competitive environment on the international stage.
At the same time, the Prime Minister encouraged the General Department of Taxation to continue further reforms.
