Cambodian Foreign Minister to attend UN Security Council high-level open meeting in US

Phnom Penh: At the invitation of the Chinese side, as the rotating president of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, will lead a high-level delegation to attend the High-Level Open Meeting of the UNSC to be held on May 26, 2026 in New York, United States.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 22, the high-level meeting will be held under the theme “Promoting the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the International System Centered on the UN.” With Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, presiding over the event and delivering a speech.

During his stay in New York, the Vice Premier is expected to attend relevant side events and hold separate bilateral meetings with counterparts from other countries to strengthen bilateral relations, promote cooperation, and exchange views on issues of mutual interest and concern.
