Update on traffic accidents in Kampong Chhnang and Svay Rieng: Ministry of Labor says 52 people have recovered and returned home, while the Minister and leaders continue to visit hospitals in person

Phnom Penh: As of 5:00 PM on May 25, 2026, 52 workers have recovered and returned home, while those who were seriously and lightly injured and are currently receiving treatment are generally in good condition. This is according to Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.

Sun Mesa detailed that in the case of Kampong Chhnang province, 45 workers who returned home While 9 people were seriously injured and 17 were slightly injured, and are still receiving treatment at the hospital. In Svay Rieng province, 7 workers returned home, while 3 were seriously injured, one of whom was sent by his family to Vietnam for treatment, and 27 were slightly injured and are still receiving treatment at the hospital.

According to the same spokesperson, on May 24, 2026, Minister Heng Sour, the ministry’s leaders and experts under his guidance continued to coordinate, visit, and help with medical care at various hospitals.

During his visit and examination at the National Hospital in Phnom Penh, Minister Heng Sour conveyed the condolences of His Majesty the Prime Minister and His Excellency to the families and fellow workers who are undergoing treatment, for whom both of them always pay attention to the workers.

Please note that two traffic accidents that occurred simultaneously on the morning of May 23, 2026 in Kampong Chhnang and Svay Rieng provinces resulted in the deaths of 14 workers and employees and the serious injuries of approximately 100 others. And light.
