Phnom Penh: Mr. Kun Kim, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions and First Deputy Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, announced the start of a temporary market for displaced people in Banteay Meanchey province.

On the occasion of meeting with traders As displaced people living in temporary houses and inspecting the location of the temporary market in Slakram commune, Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey province, Mr. Kun Kim said that under the attention of Samdech Maha Bovorathei Hun Manet, the Prime Minister of Cambodia will start building a temporary market for the displaced people to have a centralized trading location near the temporary houses in this area.

He said that this temporary market is a step-by-step action plan of the Royal Government to provide displaced people traders with suitable, orderly, and hygienic places to sell.

After meeting with displaced people traders, Mr. Kun Kim met with traders who have created jobs and businesses in their homes and have continued to operate as much as possible, while the Royal Government has helped the daily lives of displaced people through financial support.

Please note that as of May 31, 2026, 54 additional displaced people have continued to leave the camps and return to their homes safely. Therefore, out of a total of more than 640,000 displaced people, nearly 620,000, or more than 95%, have returned to their homes.
