Phnom Penh: Beijing Urban Construction Group of Beijing, People’s Republic of China, has expressed its desire to study the feasibility of developing a Sky Train system in Phnom Penh, as Phnom Penh faces traffic congestion despite the active operation of public bus services.

This intention was expressed on the morning of June 6, 2026 at Phnom Penh City Hall during a courtesy meeting and work discussion between Mr. Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, and Mr. WANG HAI CHEN, Senior Advisor of Beijing Urban Construction Group, representing Beijing Urban Construction Group.

According to Ms. Daw Samphor, spokesperson for the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration, the courtesy visit was to study the feasibility of the project to develop a Sky Train transportation system in Phnom Penh.

On that occasion, Mr. Khuong Sreng highlighted that the Phnom Penh administration welcomes the company to conduct a feasibility study on the project to develop a Sky Train transportation system in Phnom Penh because the work related to this traffic system is a vision that we are trying to solve better as Phnom Penh is facing traffic congestion.
