Cambodian Representative to UN: Peace is indispensable for full realization of human rights

Phnom Penh: Cambodia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) has said that peace is indispensable for the full enjoyment of human rights.

At the 62nd session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on June 16, Ambassador Ke Sovann, Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations, delivered an intervention during the general debate under agenda item 2 on the annual report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

In his intervention, HE the Ambassador reiterated that the current global context reminds us that peace is indispensable for the full enjoyment of human rights and stressed the need to protect civilians, civilian infrastructure and historical cultural heritage. during armed conflict, noting that these destructions have had profound and long-lasting consequences for the affected communities and future generations.
