Phnom Penh: The “Cambodia Environmental Diplomacy Strategy (CEDS) 2026–2030” was officially launched under the chairmanship of Dr. Eang Sophallet, Minister of Environment.
The official launch ceremony of This important new national policy framework was prepared with the participation of leaders, members of the Senate and the National Assembly of Cambodia, representatives of ministries and institutions, country representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), international organizations, and representatives of development partners, as well as many distinguished national and international guests, at the Ministry of Environment on the afternoon of July 6, 2026. Dr. Eang Sophallet said that the launch of this strategy comes at a time when human history is at a crucial turning point. The world is facing complex and environmental crises that require closer international cooperation, stronger confidence-building, and stronger collective action among all nations.
The Minister added that environmental diplomacy serves as an important bridge connecting economic development and the ecosystem.

1- Addressing climate change through mitigation, adaptation and governance: This work focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through forest protection, transitioning to clean energy, and promoting climate-smart agriculture. and attracting green investment.
2- Promoting ecological conservation through biodiversity protection, forest restoration and supporting community livelihoods: This pillar aims to protect Cambodia’s natural ecosystems by strengthening law enforcement in nature protection areas, collaborating with key stakeholders and providing resources for conservation.
3- Protecting the environment through air, land and water: This pillar addresses pollution control by strengthening regulations and law enforcement, raising public awareness and promoting the use of clean energy as well as clean means of transport.
