Phnom Penh: Mr. Chhay Rithsen, Minister of Rural Development, on the morning of July 15, 2026, allowed Ms. Amandine Chaussinand, Managing Director of Clean Water Organization 1001, and her colleagues to visit to pay a courtesy call and discuss work.

At the beginning, the Director expressed her deep gratitude to the Minister for the warm welcome she and her colleagues received on this occasion.
She reported to the Minister about the work of the 1001 Clean Water Organization, which began in 2005 and is currently operating in 18 target provinces across the country.

She further stated that by 2025, approximately 1 million people living in rural areas will use clean water produced by the organization every day. In addition, the organization has provided clean water to more than 1,000 schools in 18 provinces, enabling approximately 360,000 children to drink clean water every day.
The Minister and her colleagues also presented the organization’s five-year action plan to the Minister and the leadership of the Ministry of Rural Development.
The Minister thanked the Director and colleagues of the 1001 Clean Water Organization for coming and making a detailed report on the organization’s progress to the ceremony on this occasion.

Seizing the opportunity, the Minister also informed the delegates about the country’s development under the cool shade of peace, which was born from the wise and correct leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, the Father of Peace of Cambodia, former Prime Minister and current President of the Senate, and under the wise and continuous leadership of Samdech Maha Bavorathdei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, through the launch of the first phase of the Pentagon Strategy, aimed at achieving Cambodia’s vision of 2050 as a high-income country.

The Minister also continued to mention that the Ministry of Rural Development, as a government agency, has been actively participating in the implementation of the Pentagon Strategy Phase 1 through the vision of “building a prosperous, equitable and sustainable Cambodian rural society in both economic, social and cultural aspects” by identifying five key strategies. Strategy 1 of the five strategies focuses on improving the living conditions of rural people through the provision of safe and sustainable water supply services and the implementation of standard personal hygiene practices, which will make people healthier and live longer.
The Minister also expressed his appreciation and high appreciation for the organization’s efforts and good partnership in collaboration with the Ministry of Rural Development in the past.

Before concluding, the Minister thanked the Director and colleagues for their commitment to continue cooperation with the Ministry of Rural Development to promote development in rural areas, especially the supply of clean water in rural areas, which will enable the Ministry to achieve the goal of “100% access to clean water for rural residents by 2030.”
