Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge construction project on Mekong-Kratie achieves 100% results

Kratie: On July 16-17, 2026, the technical team of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, led by Mr. Lim Sidenin, Secretary of State and Project Director, was invited to inspect the detailed technical specifications and hold a handover ceremony for the construction of the Cambodia-China Mekong Kratie Friendship Bridge and the connecting road after the project was 100% implemented in accordance with the technical specifications and the defined plan.

The Cambodia-China Mekong Kratie Friendship Bridge Project is a major infrastructure project for connecting travel between Chit Borei District in the east and Prek Prasap District in the west of Kratie Province. The project includes a 1,761-meter-long bridge, a 13.5-meter-wide bridge, and a total of 31.69 kilometers of connecting roads, including four main connecting roads and branch roads.

This inspection focused on examining the construction quality, technical characteristics of the bridge structure, connecting roads, drainage systems, lighting systems, and traffic safety equipment. Traffic signs and other sub-infrastructure to ensure that the project is of strong quality, safe and can be used for a long time in accordance with technical standards.

On the occasion, Mr. Lim Sidenin, Secretary of State and Project Director, expressed his appreciation and high appreciation to the construction company, technical consultant company and technical team of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport who collaborated closely and responsibly. and high professionalism, making the project achieve 100% quality, safety and compliance with the specified technical standards. 

He stated that this achievement is the fruit of good cooperation between all stakeholders and is a reflection of the high commitment to developing quality, efficient and sustainable transport infrastructure to serve the interests of the people and the socio-economic development of the country.

It should be noted that the Cambodia-China Mekong-Kratie Friendship Bridge and Link Road Project officially opened its construction site on January 2, 2023, under the high chairmanship of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister and current President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, under the vision of “There are roads, there are bridges, there is hope.” 

The project is implemented by Shanghai Construction Group (SCG) and technically supervised by Guangzhou Wanan Construction Supervision, using concessional loan financing from the Government of the People’s Republic of China together with the counterpart budget of the Royal Government of Cambodia. The successful completion of the project is a milestone and a testament to the strong cooperation between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China in developing Cambodia’s transport infrastructure.

Please be informed that the Cambodia-China Mekong Kratie Friendship Bridge has been permanently opened to traffic since April 1, 2026. The successful completion of this project is another new achievement in the development of Cambodia’s transport infrastructure, which is an important strategic infrastructure construction, contributing to strengthening the national transport network and connectivity between the central and northeastern regions of the country, improving the efficiency of transporting goods, agricultural output and agro-industrial products, as well as promoting the development of tourism, investment, logistics systems and socio-economic activities along the connecting area, aiming to improve the quality of life of citizens.
