Phnom Penh: The Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh has organized a meet and greet program for 30 Cambodian officials and teachers from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports who will travel to attend the India Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) training program under the theme “A Framework for Integrating AI to Enhance STEM Education”.
The training program will be held from July 22 to August 4, 2026 at the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chennai, India.
The seminar was chaired by Dr. San Vadhana, Secretary of State, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, along with several other distinguished guests and participants.
The upcoming training program on integrating AI for STEM education is designed to enhance the teaching capabilities of participating teachers and education officials by strengthening pedagogical skills and digital capabilities. This training will provide practical learning on:
- Integrating Artificial Intelligence Frameworks
- Using Virtual Labs and Simulations
- Using collaborative ICT tools to support learner-centered, future-ready STEM education.
The program will also include discussion sessions, hands-on practice, case studies, and group projects. Speaking at the event, Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, emphasized the strategic importance of the training program, which aims to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) technology into STEM education. Reflecting the long-standing civilizational and historical ties between the two countries, the Ambassador reaffirmed India’s commitment to further strengthen cooperation with Cambodia in the field of education. He expressed his firm belief that the knowledge and experience gained by the trainees from India through this training program will contribute significantly to improving the quality of education in Cambodia and further strengthening cooperation, mutual understanding and people-to-people ties between the two countries. He encouraged all the participants to act as “ambassadors of friendship” and a bridge for stronger cooperation between India and Cambodia.
The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme was launched by the Government of India on 15 September 1964 and is one of India’s flagship initiatives for technical cooperation and capacity building for partner countries.
The programme is based on the practical needs of partner countries and aims to support developing countries by providing training opportunities and human resource development in a wide range of sectors.
Since 1981, more than 3,300 Cambodian citizens and civil servants have participated in the ITEC training programme. Every year, the Government of India allocates a quota of 300 ITEC training courses to Cambodia.
