Kampot: Mr. Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, presided over the graduation ceremony for 514 students (300 female) from the Kampot Techo Sen Regional Polytechnic Institute, out of a total of 2,088 students who successfully graduated on the morning of July 18, 2026, including technical and vocational diplomas at levels 1, 2, 3, higher technical diplomas, and technical bachelor’s degrees.
Speaking at a ceremony attended by more than 1,800 participants, Minister Heng Sour congratulated the winning students, whose success stems from the right decision to embrace Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a bridge to build a better future. He cited Prime Minister Hun Sen’s words to emphasize that TVET is not a second-level education or of lower value than general education. TVET skills are equally valuable as other skills and meet the needs of the labor market, helping to build the future of individuals, families, and society.
He said that pursuing TVET skills is an investment in valuable human capital and a core force for national economic development. In fact, students who graduate from the institute have a job placement rate of approximately 90%, which demonstrates the quality of training and responsiveness to labor market needs. The Minister urged students to continue learning throughout their lives, especially strengthening soft skills, upgrading and changing skills, and using modern technology and artificial intelligence to increase competitiveness and career growth opportunities. At the same time, he also encouraged guardians to continue supporting their children to choose TVET skills to build their future and improve their family’s livelihood.
The Minister instructed the institute leaders and teachers to continue to strengthen the quality of training, expand cooperation with the private sector, and update the curriculum to meet the needs of the labor market in order to achieve the goal. “A citizen has at least one skill for life” and “Learn to learn to have a job” while Kampot province is potentially attracting investment and needs more skilled labor.
