Phnom Penh: Deputy Prime Minister Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, has urged to continue to strengthen foreign language skills and use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to the fullest extent possible to improve work efficiency.
Mr. Hang Chuon Naron’s encouragement came on the occasion of presiding over the opening ceremony of the workshop “Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for ICT Trainers and Teachers” under the Information Technology Capacity Building Project for Primary and Secondary Education in Cambodia on July 20, 2026, with the participation of ministry leaders, Ms. Sejin Lee, Executive Director of KOICA Cambodia, Dr. Ki-Sang SONG, Director of the ICT-CPD Project, as well as many relevant trainers and teachers.
The workshop was organized under technical cooperation with the agency KOICA to support the reform of ICT specialist teacher education in Cambodia. This ongoing professional development system provides opportunities for teachers, principals, and education staff to participate in capacity-building activities based on real needs and the advancement of digital technology.
On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the achievements of the project over the past five years on training ICT skills for teachers. His Excellency the Professor gave four key recommendations to strengthen the quality of training: 1) Strengthening the quality of education to meet the professional standards of teachers, 2) Implementing regular professional training plans to meet actual needs, 3) Strengthening career paths through specialized training and management, and 4) Developing a mechanism for evaluating actual work results and student learning outcomes.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his deep gratitude to the government and people of Korea through KOICA for their significant contributions to the development of the education sector in Cambodia.
