The Senior Minister stated that this Memorandum of Understanding is a link between mine action and the agricultural sector to transform land that was previously threatened by mines and explosive remnants of war into safe land for cultivation, productivity, and income generation. The Mine Action Authority is responsible for clearing the land safely, while the Ministry of Agriculture will provide techniques, inputs, and market support to transform the land into a sustainable source of production.
Senior Minister Ly Thuc said that currently, more than two-thirds of the land cleared of mines is being used for crop production. The real success of mine action is the transformation of those safe lands into rice fields, fish ponds, and sources of livelihood for the people, which contribute to strengthening food security, developing community economies, and reducing poverty, in line with the Royal Government’s Pentagon Strategy.
