On the occasion of chairing the meeting of the National Committee of the National Council of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (NCDRI) to review the progress and strengthen the implementation of the care, treatment, rehabilitation and integration of drug addicts, Professor Chheang Ra stated that the treatment of drug addicts is a multi-sectoral work that requires close collaboration between ministries, relevant institutions and local authorities to ensure the quality management, treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts and enable them to successfully return to the community.
On that occasion, the Minister made important recommendations, including: improving the quality of treatment, strengthening the monitoring and referral system, and promoting prevention according to the principle of “prevention is better than cure” with the participation of authorities and families, as well as strengthening human resource development, expanding treatment services, and promoting the use of easy-to-use digital technology in data management.
The Minister called on all ministries, institutions and relevant parties to continue to strengthen closer cooperation to improve the effectiveness of care, treatment, rehabilitation and integration of drug addicts, aiming to contribute to improving the well-being and quality of life of citizens.
In this meeting, representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans Affairs and Youth Rehabilitation, the Secretariat General of the National Anti-Drug Authority, and the Ministry of Health reported on the progress of implementing the 2026-2028 Action Plan. The meeting also discussed challenges and solutions to strengthen the quality of treatment, rehabilitation and reintegration services for drug addicts more effectively.
