Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Environment has been taking active measures to prevent the discharge of dirty water from factories, enterprises and other sources of pollution, having blocked and prevented 2,270,285 cubic meters of dirty water in July 2026 from flowing into natural water sources.
At the same time, the Ministry of Environment has managed to prevent the release of 73,235 cubic meters of contaminated water outside business locations, affecting public and natural water sources across the country. The results achieved so far are the result of the efforts of the Ministry of Environment, which has been implementing laws to prevent environmental pollution, ensure the health of citizens to live well, and achieve this under the environmental sector cycle strategy, with the first pillar focusing on cleanliness (water, land, sky).
Furthermore, the Ministry of Environment thanked the owners of companies, factories, and enterprises who cooperated in implementing the law, equipped with automatic equipment to monitor liquid waste, and participated in reducing the discharge of contaminated water into natural water sources, aiming to protect citizens’ health and maintain cleanliness in Cambodia.
Please note that 64 companies, factories and enterprises have been equipped with automatic equipment to monitor the discharge of liquid waste as stipulated in Article 178 of the Environment and Natural Resources Code. From January 2025 to the end of July 2026, the Ministry of Environment has prevented the discharge of contaminated water from companies, factories and enterprises totaling more than 35 million cubic meters (35,235,003 cubic meters) from flowing into natural water sources. In particular, in the 7 months (January-July) of 2026, more than 15,160,730 cubic meters of contaminated water were monitored and prevented from polluting the environment.
