Phnom Penh: In the 10 days from April 10 to 19, 2026, all local authorities from the city, district, and commune levels continued to promote the safe village-commune-sangkat policy more than 4,000 times across the country.
According to Mr. Touch Sokha, Deputy Spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, this activity took place at public forums in front of homes, schools, temples, and communities, with the participation of nearly 300,000 citizens.
Mr. Touch Sokha said that the promotion of this policy was carried out to raise citizens’ awareness of safety, public order, and participation in increasing harmony in the community, which means that this policy requires the participation of citizens with the responsible efforts of local authorities.
It should be noted that the core content of the Safe Villages, Communes, and Sangkats Policy is to encourage participation in preventing and reporting crimes in society, promoting the provision of public services, sanitation and environmental work, preventing social hazards, immorality, no human trafficking, especially women and children, no domestic violence, no gangs, resolving disputes outside the judicial system, and responding promptly to disasters and all infectious diseases.
In 2025, the Safe Villages, Communes, and Sangkats Policy was implemented 230,949 times across the country, with an average of 40 to 50 people participating each time. The Safe Villages, Communes, and Sangkats Policy Implementation Competition is coordinated and implemented annually by the Royal Government, with the Ministry of Interior as the head of the department, with the results of the implementation of this policy being announced annually at the conference summarizing the work results of the Ministry of Interior.
