Phnom Penh: Workers and unions in Cambodia have said that there is peace only when there is a salary increase, better working conditions, the expansion of new factories and enterprises, so that citizens do not lack jobs and their living standards improve year by year, which is the most important point of the spirit of International Labor Day.

Mr. Hang Ravy, President of the Cambodian Workers’ Union Confederation (CWPUC), said, “Peace is very important. With peace, factories and enterprises will continue to grow. Because Cambodia is completely peaceful, it has been able to attract both domestic and foreign investors to establish factories, enterprises and handicrafts in large numbers, which are the driving force for the rapid growth of the national economy in all sectors.”

He added that “working conditions are also getting better day by day.” “Because of the consideration of the Royal Government of Cambodia, led by President Hun Sen and under the direct supervision of His Excellency Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, to promote the employment sector rapidly because Cambodia is also completely peaceful.”

Ms. Naen Srey Nich A factory worker at Nice Pek Khing factory said, “For me as a worker, I see peace as very valuable because it gives me a secure job, a salary increase that improves my family’s living standards, and more job opportunities.”

Ms. Hang Katha, a worker at Suvai Garment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., said, “As a worker, I see that peace brings more job opportunities for workers and people across the country. Peace also makes factories grow and more jobs are created, so I have the opportunity to work well and continue to improve my living standards. And peace also brings harmony in the work sector, and workers work happily.”

At the same time, workers, employees, and unions thanked the Royal Government for bringing peace to the nation and development in all sectors, because without peace, nothing, everything, will be possible.
