Samdech Techo considers former Vietnamese Defense Minister an old friend of Cambodia

Phnom Penh: Acting Head of State Samdech Techo Hun Sen has considered Mr. Pham Van Tra, a former member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and former Minister of National Defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, an old friend of Cambodia.

Mr. Chea Thirith, spokesman for the Cambodian Senate, said after the meeting between Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Mr. Pham Vantra that Samdech Techo considers the former Vietnamese Foreign Minister an old friend of Cambodia, especially Udom, who contributed to helping Cambodia liberate Cambodia from the dark Pol Pot regime.

The spokesperson said “Samdech Techo was very happy to meet with His Excellency Pham Vantra. The Samdech considered His Excellency as an old friend of Cambodia, especially His Excellency’s contribution in the past to help Cambodia liberate Cambodia from the dark Pol Pot regime in the past, with many memories together.”

In response, Mr. Pham Vantra expressed his immense joy at meeting Samdech Techo again after a 10-year absence. He said that the reunion with Samdech Techo Hun Sen showed the long-standing friendship between the Samdech and His Excellency, as well as the friendship between Cambodia and Vietnam.

He also stated that for this visit to Cambodia, there are two main purposes: first, to meet and greet Samdech Techo, who has worked with him. Together a lot in the past and secondly – I want to see some locations that are memorable for helping to liberate Cambodia from the Khmer Rouge regime.
