Phnom Penh: Government Spokesperson Pen Bona said that the actions of the Thai side that caused the explosion of weapons on April 29, 2026, when a foreign military attaché in Cambodia was observing at the O’Smach Pass, were contrary to the spirit of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.

In a statement on the Cambodia-Thailand situation on April 30, 2026, the Royal Government Spokesperson stated that the five incidents of gunfire caused by Thai military forces on the morning of April 29, 2026, with a total of 9 shots fired from M79 and M16 rifles, while a foreign military attaché team was observing the situation at O’Smach Pass, Oddar Meanchey Province, after the ceasefire came into effect, were contrary to the spirit of the ceasefire.

The spokesperson stated that “such actions by the Thai side are contrary to the spirit of the ceasefire and agreements that both sides have agreed to reduce tension and promote peace, security and tranquility along the border, and Cambodian forces have been continuing to monitor it closely and with great vigilance.”

Please note that before the visit of the foreign military attaché group, the Secretariat of the Military Border Committee (RBC) of the 4th Military Region of Cambodia issued an official notification to the Secretariat of the Military Border Committee (RBC) of the 2nd Military Region of Thailand, but the Thai side still defied by detonating weapons.
