Phnom Penh: The international and large-scale tourism, cultural and mixed martial arts event of Cambodia and China, “The spirit of Bok-Too and Shaolin return to meet in front of Angkor” in Siem Reap, was presented to national and international visitors in person and live-streamed by the media, citizens and famous influencers around the world, reaching approximately 500,000 viewers.

The Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in cooperation with the Shaolin Temple, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cambodia, the People’s Government of Henan Province, the Siem Reap Province Administration and relevant parties, organized a tourism event to connect Cambodian-Chinese mixed martial arts culture, the “Cambodia-Chinese Mixed Martial Arts Festival”, on April 30, 2026, at the northern perimeter of Bayon Temple, Siem Reap Province, under the high chairmanship of Mr. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, Venerable Se Yansu, Abbot of Shaolin Temple in Cambodia, Mr. Ngoc Sengkang, representative of Mr. Prak Sophon, Governor of Siem Reap Province, as well as more than 2,000 citizens in person and more than 500,000 viewers via live broadcast.

On this occasion, the Minister said that the organization of the “Cambodia-China Mixed Martial Arts Festival” is to celebrate the “Cambodia-China Tourism Year” and the 68th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the People’s Republic of China, as well as to continue to strengthen and expand cultural exchanges, tourism and friendship between the people of the two countries, as Cambodia-China relations are being expanded, strengthened, and deepened. and further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership and win-win cooperation between the two countries, as well as promote and popularize Cambodia’s valuable ancient martial arts such as Kunlun Bok To, Yut Kun Khum and Khmer Boxing, along with famous Chinese martial arts such as Kung Fu, Shaolin and Tai Chi, exchange experiences, knowledge and techniques between players and coaches of the two countries, promote the tourism potential, culture and civilization of Cambodia to Chinese and international tourists, and contribute to the preservation, development and appreciation of national cultural identity by showcasing martial arts as the living heritage of the two nations.

At the same time, the Minister highlighted that Cambodia-China cooperation in the tourism sector has become a strong pillar in supporting the steel-steel friendship between the two countries, especially under the “Belt and Road” initiative of His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, which has contributed significantly to promoting closer and more prosperous people-to-people, cultural and tourism exchanges between Cambodia and China.
