Phnom Penh: Dr. Kao Thach, the Royal Government Delegate in Charge of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), on May 13, 2026, met and greeted farmers in Kien Svay District, Kandal Province.
The meeting and greeting ceremony with farmers was also attended by Mr. Khon Serey Ratha, Deputy Governor of Kandal Province, officials from the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Deputy Governor of Kien Svay District, commune heads and commune agricultural officials, as well as a total of 565 farmers.
Dr. Kao Thach said on the occasion that the main purpose of today’s meeting is to introduce the Techo Farmers Network Association, a new association, to our farmers. In this regard, the association will help facilitate farmers by serving as a bridge for agricultural products produced by farmers and connecting them to the market, including technical, marketing, financing, and as an umbrella or mechanism to prevent any abuse.
On that occasion, the delegate reminded that Cambodia cannot escape the agricultural sector at a time when the world is losing order, but what we are concerned about is domestic food security, including the agricultural sector, because the agricultural sector is food that is linked to everyone’s life, so we must make every effort in all sectors, including investing in agriculture as a core occupation and a rice cooker for the entire country, including the world.
The delegate said that all difficulties and challenges are high opportunities for the agricultural sector to increase production to supply domestically instead of importing while the world is facing food shortages due to natural disasters, rising prices of fuel and fertilizers. This has caused the cost of production in agriculture to skyrocket. Regarding the above issue, Dr. The delegate advised farmers that due to the increase in the price of chemical fertilizers, farmers should produce their own natural fertilizers and compost in the community to ensure the quality and safety of local products for consumers.
In addition, to solve the problem of concerns in the agricultural sector where farmers produce but have no market, Dr. The delegate recommended that the Techo Farmers Network Association play an important role such as serving as a strong bridge, an important connection for farmers to achieve sustainable development and connect to financial sources (credit), connecting to technical, market and experts to help farmers obtain modern agricultural technologies. In addition, connecting to the agricultural market, providing clear market information and helping to facilitate the sale of agricultural products, ensuring that farmers can sell at good and reasonable prices, avoiding price suppression. In raising issues, concerns, and suggestions, especially marketing issues, to relevant leaders and authorities to find timely solutions.
