Phnom Penh: During the first three months of 2026, the National Police authorities at all localities cracked down on 278 gangs and arrested a total of 974 perpetrators. This number, compared to the same three months in 2025, decreased by 13 cases and 115 perpetrators. According to the report of the National Police General Office.
According to the report, among the nearly 1,000 gangs, the authorities have implemented strict legal measures by filing cases and sending 541 to court. For the remaining 433 perpetrators, the authorities implemented administrative measures by signing education and training contracts and allowing guardians to continue their education at home.
In April, Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia instructed relevant institutions to study the law to send gangs that cause social unrest to serve on the front lines so that they can understand the sacrifices and dangers that soldiers and border police, some of whom are also young people, are making for the sake of serving the motherland.
To ensure security, public order, and social safety, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sar Sokha, has issued strict orders for authorities and the National Police Force to continue implementing measures to suppress gangs without any understanding or intervention on the perpetrators.
