Phnom Penh: Mr. Kim Pros, Director of the Battambang Provincial Branch of the Consumer Protection and Competition Commission, has been required to work at the headquarters of the Consumer Protection and Competition Commission to continue the procedures of the Disciplinary Council of the Ministry of Commerce.
According to the Ministry of Commerce’s Facebook page on May 14, 2026, the General Department of Consumer Protection and Competition “CPC” of the Ministry of Commerce said that after the incident of uncertainty over the durian case sold at Phu Puy Market in Battambang Province, the General Department of Consumer Protection and Competition Commission The following actions have been taken:

1. On May 4, 2026: The General Department instructed the Battambang Provincial Office of the Food and Drug Administration to conduct a direct inspection and interview with 7 vendors selling durian at Phu Puy Market and collect samples of the durian to send to the laboratory to test for chemicals that may affect the health and safety of consumers.
2. On May 5, 2026: The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce and the Director General of the Food and Drug Administration went to investigate the site in Battambang province and organized a joint meeting between the Battambang provincial administration, which was attended by the Deputy Governor of Battambang Province, the Director of the Battambang Provincial Department of Commerce, the Director of the Battambang Provincial Department of Agriculture, the Director of the Food and Drug Administration Branch, and subordinate officials, as well as some relevant vendors at Phu Puy Market, to hear arguments and find an urgent solution to the case.
3. On May 6, 2026: The General Department of the Competition Commission issued Order No. 443 of the General Department of the Competition Commission dated May 6, 2026, requiring Mr. Kim Pros to work at the Competition Department of the General Department of the Competition Commission Headquarters. To continue the procedure of the Disciplinary Council of the Ministry of Commerce in accordance with the Law on the Joint Statute of Civil Servants of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
