Phnom Penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has told the Dutch Prime Minister about Cambodia’s position in resolving the Cambodia-Thai border issue peacefully, based on international law and existing agreements between the two countries.
President Hun Sen’s statement was made on the occasion of allowing Mr. Remco Johannes van Wijngaarden, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Cambodia, and his colleagues to pay a courtesy call and bid farewell at the Peace Palace on May 20, 2026.
On that occasion, the Prime Minister also informed the Ambassador about the latest developments in the Cambodia-Thai border dispute and stressed his commitment to and Cambodia’s position in adhering to the peaceful resolution of border issues based on international law, conventions, treaties and existing agreements between the two countries.
The Ambassador thanked Cambodia for always supporting respect for international law and the rule-based international order in the past.
He added that the Netherlands, as well as the European Union, supports respect for international law and the maintenance of a rule-based international order.
