The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training on the morning of May 23, 2026, was deeply shocked by two horrific traffic accidents that occurred simultaneously, resulting in the deaths of 14 workers and the injuries of 93 others, both serious and minor.

Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training spokesman Sun Mesa detailed that the traffic accident in Kampong Chhnang province resulted in 53 victims (50 women), including 9 deaths (8 women), 9 serious injuries (8 women), and 35 minor injuries (34 women), while the accident in Svay Rieng city, Svay Rieng province resulted in 40 victims (24 women), including 5 deaths (2 women), 6 serious injuries (4 women), and 29 minor injuries (18 women).

In addition, the spokesperson said that the Minister, the Ministry’s leadership and subordinate experts have continued to coordinate and help collect the remains at various hospitals and prepare the funerals for the workers who have lost their lives. Meanwhile, experts from the National Social Security Bureau of the Ministry of Labor have been providing benefits to the workers in accordance with the law.

Mr. Sun Mesa also urged strict compliance with traffic laws to avoid serious traffic accidents that befall our workers. At the same time, the ministry’s leadership will organize the funeral and guarantee all expenses for the funeral of the workers.
