Phnom Penh: The General Department of Immigration of the Ministry of Interior has denied that Cambodia has not strictly banned foreigners under the age of 40 from entering Cambodia.

The General Department of Immigration’s statement came after a Chinese-language news article on the social media platform We Chat was published under the title “Phnom Penh International Airport has temporarily closed all entry to the country, and land border crossings will also be strictly restricted from May 26, 2026.” The content of the article emphasizes that all individuals under the age of 40 will be denied entry to the country, whether male or female, regardless of whether they have a visa or business document.

Regarding this accusation, the General Department of Immigration, through a clarification, completely rejected it and said that this is false information because immigration police officers have never received any guidelines from any leadership to restrict people under 40 years of age from entering Cambodia.

The clarification said that currently, in accordance with the guidelines of the Head of the Royal Government of Cambodia, restrictions on the entry of foreigners to Cambodia are being implemented with safety measures and strengthening the control of foreigners in order to prevent the illegal infiltration of foreigners only. For foreign tourists, investor associations, businessmen, traders and foreign workers, they still receive support and encouragement to come in without closing the entry and exit.

At the same time, the General Department of Immigration clarified that at major international border police stations, both by air and land, the entry and exit procedures of the country continue as usual, without any changes.

Meanwhile, to encourage the growth of tourists visiting Cambodia, the Royal Government of Cambodia has granted a trial visa exemption to Chinese citizens traveling from China, allowing a stay of 14 days during a 4-month period, which will be implemented from June 15 to 15. October 2026.
