Cambodian Foreign Minister: Conflicts must be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy and respect for international law

Phnom Penh: Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said that conflicts must be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy and respect for international law.

Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn’s remarks On the occasion of delivering the National Address at the High-Level Open Meeting of the United Nations Security Council on May 26, 2026.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that in an era where the world is facing increasing challenges, armed conflicts and geopolitical tensions, respect for territorial integrity and peaceful resolution of problems must continue to serve as a strong foundation of the international order.

During his speech, the Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to the UN Charter and said that, drawing on Cambodia’s own historical experience, he emphasized that “disputes must be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy, and respect for international law.

Before concluding, the Cambodian Foreign Minister also expressed Cambodia’s deep gratitude to the international community for supporting the ceasefire and peaceful resolution of the Cambodian-Thai border dispute.
