Phnom Penh: Samdech Thibati Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, recalled that when there was a border problem with Thailand, he encouraged the production of some strategic goods to supply domestically.

Speaking from the inauguration forum of a rubber processing factory in Tbong Khmum district, Tbong Khmum province on the morning of May 27, 2026, Samdech Thibati said that because the supply of some essential goods had not yet met the needs of the people, he encouraged further production by introducing preferential tax policies.

Samdech continued, “When there was a border problem with Thailand, I encouraged looking at strategic industries. Which strategic investment can be made to increase domestically, expand local capabilities, seize opportunities, opportunities that people come to support. Local products must be sustainable. So sustainability must have both, quality products and sustainable buyers. These two “occur together.”

The Prime Minister also said that usually those who buy to use or eat must consider quality first for good health.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the pilot products that were encouraged to be produced during the border conflict with Thailand include: milk, noodles, and sugar, which the state has set a goal of reducing imports to the maximum and expanding production.

Prime Minister Hun Manet also said that when the war broke out with Thailand, local noodle production was only 20%, which could not meet the demand and supply. However, to encourage production, the state has introduced a number of preferential policies to help local production.
