Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia has reiterated that Cambodia has never violated the sovereignty of other countries while firmly committed to protecting its own sovereignty.
In a statement to the Cambodian people on the Royal Government’s resolution regarding the overlapping maritime claims with Thailand on June 2, 2026, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that a peaceful resolution is in the mutual interest of both countries (Cambodia and Thailand) and will contribute to regional peace and stability. This peaceful solution will protect sovereignty, strengthen trust, open up opportunities to use energy resources, support development, and create new job opportunities not only for the present but also for future generations of people in both countries.
In that, Samdech Thibhatei Hun Manet reaffirmed that Cambodia has never violated the sovereignty of other countries, and at the same time, Cambodia is absolutely committed to protecting its own sovereignty.
The Samdech Thibhatei affirmed that at this time, Cambodia continues to adhere to this strong and responsible stance, not through the use of force but through the use of law, not through unilateral action, but through joint peaceful resolution.
In that, the King called on all compatriots to continue to maintain unity as a whole, with high confidence and strength. Protecting sovereignty is the duty of our entire nation.
