Mine Action Authority: 3-year action plan of the National Mine Action Policy in response to humanitarian missions

Kampot: Dr. Ly Thuj, Senior Minister and First Deputy Chairman of the Cambodian Mine Action Authority, said that the three-year action plan of the National Mine Action Policy 2026-2035 must be prepared strategically and respond to the humanitarian mission of Samdech Thibault Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.

Speech by Dr. Ly Thuj at a meeting to discuss the draft 3-year action plan of the National Mine Action Policy 2026-2035 and the draft report on the implementation of the National Mine Action Strategic Plan 2018-2025 on June 3, 2026. The meeting was supported by Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA).

During the meeting, Dr. Ly Thuj highlighted the importance of developing a three-year action plan, which is an important tool for translating the National Mine Action Policy 2026-2035 into concrete, effective and measurable actions.

He stated that “this plan will contribute significantly to responding to and supporting the humanitarian mission of His Excellency President Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to reduce poverty, reduce the harm and impacts caused by mines and explosive remnants of war, and promote the safety, well-being and dignity of citizens, especially those living in mine-affected communities.”

The Senior Minister added that the three-year action plan will help strengthen the efficiency of resource use, including financial, material, technical and human resources, and promote coordination and allocation of resources to be effective, appropriate and responsive to national priorities. Furthermore, His Excellency Dr. Ly Thuc instructed the meeting to discuss and provide quality inputs to prepare a comprehensive and strategic action plan.

Senior Minister Ly Thuc expressed his gratitude and high appreciation for the partnership and cooperation The close relationship between the Mine Action Authority and the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) has been an active contributor to supporting the mine action sector in Cambodia.
