Representative of the Minister of Mines and Energy visits the official closing of the water gate at the Pursat River Hydropower Project

Pursat: Cambodia’s green energy sector has reached another important turning point as the Stung Pursat 1 hydropower project in Pramoy commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, has successfully completed the “official closing of the water gates” phase in preparation for power generation in the near future. The Stung Pursat 1 hydropower project has a capacity to generate up to 80 megawatts of electricity. The completion of the water gate closure phase is a positive sign that construction is nearing completion and is ready to meet the needs of the people.

The official water gate closure ceremony was held on the morning of June 4, 2026, presided over by Dr. Ty Norin, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, representing Mr. Keo Ratanak, Minister of Mines and Energy, and with the invitation of Dr. Praing Jalsa, Delegate of the Royal Government of Cambodia in charge of the General Director of Electricite du Cambodge, Mr. Khoy Rida, Governor of Pursat Provincial Government, Mr. Yim Viseth, President of the Electricity Authority of Cambodia, and Mr. KIM MYUNG IL, General Director of SPHP (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. As well as many other relevant delegates.
