On that occasion, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Kem Sokhonn, said that Kampong Cham province is a province with many potential agricultural products and products, including durian, a potential crop of the province and increasing the cultivated area every year. Currently, the total cultivated area is 1,849 hectares, the harvested area is 1,319 hectares, which can produce approximately 12,724 tons of produce per year. Durian can be harvested from May to July, with an average yield of 8 to 10 tons per hectare. Two districts with potential for durian cultivation are Stung Trang and Chamkar Leu districts.

The Secretary of State continued that it is noteworthy that the durians in Stung Trang district are recognized And popular with consumers for its unique and delicious taste, and receives high support and demand in the market every year. Because of the high support and demand in the market, the counterfeiting of the source of the durian sold on the market has greatly affected the reputation and value of the durian. Therefore, to maintain the reputation and value of the Bek Anlong durian, the Ministry of Commerce and Kampong Cham Provincial Administration have initiated the creation and preparation of a specific brand for the Bek Anlong durian agricultural product, which can be officially used and has full intellectual property protection, in order to strengthen and expand both the quality and quantity, as well as maintain the value of the Bek Anlong durian.


With this, the creation of a clear brand to protect the intellectual property of the durian will benefit those involved in the durian business in the designated geographical area to protect the reputation and value of the durian by increasing confidence in the quality and safety, which can increase prices and increase the ability to compete in the market, as well as promote exports abroad, especially Join the fight against counterfeit durian sources.
