More than 100 Cambodian workers sent to Cambodian authorities by Thai authorities

Banteay Meanchey: More than 100 Cambodian workers were sent by Thai authorities to Cambodian authorities via the Poipet international border gate on June 5, 2026.

Lieutenant General Uy Chamroeun said: 112 Cambodian workers, including 35 women and 16 children, who were handed over to Cambodian authorities by Thai authorities at the Pet International Border Gate, which borders Thailand’s Klonglek border, were given snacks of bread and clean water.

He stated that some of the Cambodian workers who were handed over were arrested by Thai authorities. By staying and working illegally in Thailand, some of them are Cambodian traders selling at the Long Kluea market in Thailand, and there are other workers who illegally crossed the border and were arrested by Thai authorities near the border, and people working in farms along the border were detained by Thai authorities for 15 to 20 days before being sent to Cambodia.

Mr. Brigadier General E Chamroeun confirmed that after receiving 112 Cambodian workers, they were questioned by experts and sent by car to the detention center and sent to their homes safely and advised them to stop being cheated by brokers and find jobs in Cambodia that are waiting for them.
