Phnom Penh: Mr. Hunt VanderToll, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, reiterated that the United States continues to support and work closely with Cambodia in promoting regional peace and encouraging greater investment flows from American companies to Cambodia.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of State reiterated his assurances during a working meeting with Mr. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), on June 5, 2026, during the Deputy Assistant Secretary’s official visit to Cambodia.
The Deputy Prime Minister extended a warm and friendly welcome to the US delegation invited to pay this visit. He also detailed Cambodia’s positive prospects and rich investment potential, especially investment opportunities in large physical infrastructure, as highlighted in the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Comprehensive Master Plan for the Cambodian Intermodal Transport and Logistics System 2023-2033, which will require an investment of approximately US$36.6 billion.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister also briefed the delegation on recent developments related to the Royal Government’s efforts to implement the Agreement of the Reciprocal Trade (ART), to which Cambodia is the first signatory with the United States, and as a result, bilateral trade between Cambodia and the United States has continued to increase while Cambodia maintains access to the US market.
In response, Mr. Hunt VanderToll expressed his appreciation for the many positive developments. In the current bilateral relationship between Cambodia and the United States, he noted Cambodia’s continued development and progress, and highly appreciated the active role of the Council for the Development of Cambodia in facilitating, facilitating, and supporting foreign business.
