Phnom Penh: The Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Cambodia on the morning of June 8, 2026, held a meeting under the chairmanship of His Excellency Samdech Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, to review the draft law on “Amendment of the Road Law” proposed by the Royal Government.
As a result of the meeting, the Standing Committee decided to submit the draft law to the Committee on Public Works, Transport, Civil Aviation, Post, Telecommunications, Industry, Science, Technology, Innovation, Mining, Energy, Commerce, Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (Committee 9) of the National Assembly for urgent review, study and report back to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.

The Road Law was approved by the 5th National Assembly on April 3, 2014 and approved by the Senate on April 11, 2014, and was officially promulgated by Royal Decree dated May 4, 2014.
After more than 12 years of implementation of this law, the Royal Government explained that Some provisions are not yet comprehensive enough to respond to the actual development of the socio-economic situation in the country, region and the world, which requires further amendments (which number 15 articles) to serve the common interests of the nation.
