Cambodia joins in celebrating the ILO-Korea partnership and vows to strengthen cooperation to continue developing the labor sector and social protection system in Cambodia on the occasion of the 114th International Labor Conference

Geneva: Mr. Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, attended an official meeting organized by the ILO Partnership Department to celebrate the ILO-Republic of Korea Partnership Program on the evening of 8 June 2026, during which he led the Cambodian delegation to the 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.

On this occasion, the Minister expressed his deep gratitude and high appreciation for the long-standing friendship and partnership between Cambodia and the Republic of Korea, which continues to grow based on mutual trust, respect, and shared commitment to promoting prosperity and sustainable development. This partnership brings development and positive impacts to the labor sector in Cambodia through technical support to the National Social Security Agency (NSSA), which has contributed to strengthening Cambodia’s social protection framework and expanding the scope of social security for workers and employees. These efforts are helping Cambodia move closer to its vision of a social protection system that is inclusive, resilient and “Leaves No One Behind.”

At the same time, he also highlighted the progress of the partnership on occupational safety and health Through capacity development initiatives and strengthening social dialogue, as well as labour dispute resolution and labour inspection, through the Global Catalyst (GA) initiative on decent work and social protection for a just transition, which has become a key pillar of cooperation between the two sides in recent years.

Mr. Heng Sour stressed that Cambodia remains strongly committed to strengthening and expanding this valuable partnership, with the Minister expressing his belief that international cooperation and mutual learning are indispensable factors in responding to the challenges and opportunities that are evolving in the world of work.

The ILO and the Republic of Korea representatives highly appreciated Cambodia’s active participation in the ILO-Korea Partnership Programme and welcomed the achievements made in Cambodia, particularly in the areas of social security, occupational safety and health, social dialogue and strengthening of labour institutions.
